Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or using Pennykin, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Pennykin.
You download the app from Apple's App Store, and Apple's standard license for apps also applies. If anything in that license conflicts with these terms about how our service works, these terms apply. Apple is not responsible for Pennykin or for supporting it.
Before publication: name the operator who offers Pennykin; "we" means that operator.
What Pennykin is
Pennykin is a record that a family keeps of money it holds for a child or has promised to a child. It is not a bank, a wallet or a payment service. Pennykin never holds, receives, sends, invests or transfers money, and balances in Pennykin are not deposits or accounts.
A balance shows only what your family has recorded. It can be wrong if a record is missing or mistaken, and it can be negative. Pennykin does not give financial, legal or tax advice.
Your account
- You sign in with a code we send to your email. Keep access to your email and your device secure, and don't share sign-in codes.
- Give us accurate information, and use your own email address.
- You are responsible for what happens in your account and for anyone you let use your device, including your child.
- Each account belongs to one family at a time.
Families and children
- A parent or legal guardian sets up the family and adds children. By adding a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have their permission.
- Children under 13 may use Pennykin only through a parent or guardian, on that adult's device.
- A child 13 or older may have their own sign-in with their parent's or guardian's permission, and the parent or guardian is responsible for that use.
- Every parent in a family can see and change the records of every child in it. Invite only people you trust with your children's records.
Your records
The records you add belong to you. You let us store them, process them and show them to the people in your family so that Pennykin can work. We don't use them for advertising and we don't sell them.
You are responsible for what you record. Don't put sensitive details in descriptions that you would not want everyone in your family to see.
Using Pennykin fairly
Don't use Pennykin to break the law, to harass anyone, or to record anything other than a family's money for its children. Don't try to get into accounts or families that aren't yours, overload or probe the service, or copy or resell it.
We may limit or suspend an account that breaks these rules or puts others at risk.
Price and changes
Pennykin is free today and has no ads. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you first, and you won't be charged without agreeing.
We may change or remove features. We may update these terms; when a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Pennykin after that, the new terms apply.
Ending
You can stop using Pennykin and delete your account at any time from the account menu. Our privacy policy explains what is deleted. If we ever stop offering Pennykin, we will tell you in advance so you can keep a copy of your records.
No guarantees
We work to keep Pennykin accurate and available, but we provide it "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will always be available, free of errors, or right for your family.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made using balances in Pennykin. Our total responsibility for any claim about Pennykin is limited to US$50.
Before publication: a lawyer confirms the limits above, the governing state and how disputes are handled.
Disputes and the law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable U.S. federal law. Before bringing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it.
